Billy Dee Williams (Lady Sings the Blues, The Empire Strikes Back) stars with Art Carney (Harry and Tonto), Margaret Avery (The Color Purple) and Clifton Davis (Lost in the Stars) in Scott Joplin, the fascinating story about the life of the ragtime great. Best known for his song, The Entertainer, Joplin began his career touring as a piano player in bordellos across the country. When he is discovered during a piano competition by the famous music publisher John Stark (Carney), Joplin turns into an instant success, composing songs so popular that he becomes the first Black composer to be allowed to play at the Worlds Fair. This historic film directed by Jeremy Paul Kagan (The Chosen, The Sting II) recounts Joplins determination in the face of racism, his heroic struggle with a debilitating disease and his ultimate triumph as a composer and musical legend.Product Extras:NEW Audio Commentary by Director Jeremy Kagan, Moderated by Film Historian/Filmmaker Daniel KremerTheatrical TrailerOptional English SubtitlesPlease note that IF THS TITLE COMES WITH A SLIPCOVER it is the first pressing only and that first press can end at anytime without notice. We are not guaranteeing slipcovers on this title and those with slips may have minor dents and dings which are normal and not returnableFurther, please make sure your preorder ships ASAP if you would like a slip, do not tie it up with items shipping in the future
